New Trend in Jewellery for Weddings or Special occasions

Cuff bangles or Cuff bracelets are now moving into a new era!

Here at Beady Eyes, we have been making these as gifts and for weddings for about 18 months but until recently only to fit the wrist.........

........Now, those searching for a fresh and individual look are beginning to wear them on the upper part of the arm or around the ankle.

Custom made in various widths and diameters they will fit any part of the body (well almost!) and by using faux pearls or crystals in any colour or in freshwater pearls they can be made to match any outfit or a wedding colour scheme.

Apart from being beautiful and individual pieces of wedding jewellery, they also make great bridesmaids gifts which the girls love as they are contemporary and can be worn after the wedding.

They are handcrafted in such a way that the design is light and delicate and also comfortable to wear with a flexible framework allowing them to be adjusted to fit.

Are Pearls too girly for Men?
Well I don't think so!
Up until the middle of the 20th century when the plastic button industry took control,  buttons were made of mother of pearl.
Given the history of men wearing pearl buttons to fasten their clothing and the appearance of pearls I consider them just perfect for cufflinks and cravat or tie pins.
Their neutral colour means either the white or black pearls will go with just about anything and the unfussy round shape gives no hint of girliness to my mind.
Cultured pearls are perfect as a gift to a groom on the wedding day, a husband on the Pearl Wedding Anniversary after 30 years of marriage, as a birthstone gift for a man with a June birthday  or on Valentine's day for a loved one.
A lovely gemstone keepsake gift which won't break the bank!

A Pearl of a Present for the one you Love

We often struggle to find the perfect gift on a special occasion, whether it’s Valentines Day, Wedding day gifts for the Bride and Bridal party, a 30 year Wedding Anniversary, or Significant Birthdays (the birthstone for June is the pearl)

Well, here’s a Pearl of an Idea!

Pearls, one of the oldest recorded gemstones have been, and still are, appreciated the world over by people of all ages and there are colours, sizes and shapes of pearls to suit all tastes.

Gifts of Love to appreciate and treasure

To my mind these gemstones are treasures because they rely on nature to make them – they can’t be mass produced identically on command and each little gemstone has its own unique beauty and wonder to be appreciated.

 Pearls for all Pockets

There’s something for everyone here – you can spend several million dollars on a rare pearl necklace or a few pounds on a pair of pearl earrings, and each is beautiful in its own right.

 What are these little gemstones?

Natural pearls are made when a small particle enters the shell of a mollusc by accident and the little animal finds this irritating so lays down a pearly substance to cover it over. These natural pearls occur only very occasionally and so are extremely rare and very expensive.

Cultured pearls are made when this process is helped along by man and the little animals are seeded – a small bead or mantle tissue is inserted in the shell by pearl farmers. The rest of the process is then up to the little shellfish to complete the pearl production in the same way as natural pearls.

However the pearl was made, either naturally or cultured, whether the mollusc lives in saltwater or freshwater, in Japan, China, USA, Australia, or anywhere else in the world, the result is a gemstone with a unique character all of it’s own as it has been made by a living organism.

Unique jewellery for a truly personal gift

Cultured pearls lend themselves to use by small jewellery designers and not to mass production because of their infinite variations of colour, size and shape. This gives you the opportunity to have a piece if jewellery made to your own specification – a truly personal gift for the one you love!

A touch of luxury which won’t break the bank!

Exotic pearls with romantic names like Keishi, Biwa, Baroque and even those with more down to earth names such as Coin, Nugget, Peanut or Stick pearls, will lend their touches of luxurious charm to jewellery this season without costing a fortune.

Keishi pearls are also known as born again pearls – these pearls start life as an accident in the culturing process when bits breaks away from the original pearls and start to grow into separate irregular pearls. The result is a wonderful variety of interesting shapes in pearls with great lustre and orient, perfect for designer jewellery.

These exotic pearls look far removed from the classic round pearl, each of them revelling in their own uniqueness, with surfaces smooth or crumpled, sizes from tiny seed to long sticks, and shapes too numerous to describe. So if you are looking for a heart, star, square, facetted or “cornflake” shape, the humble mollusc will oblige from time to time and come up with goods.

Prices, as with all pearls, will depend on rarity, but you can own a piece of beautiful, individual and unique jewellery designed around these pearls and it most definitely won’t break the bank!

Pearls - not just for just for rich girls!

Amazing quality, gorgeous cultivated freshwater pearls are now arriving on our shores from freshwater lakes in far off China. These pearls were once cruelly dubbed rice krispies, because of their poor shape but there has been a massive improvement in the quality of these affordable pearls. When I opened my last pearl delivery my heart skipped a beat - they were so good!
Pearls start life as a bit of an irritation to a shellfish – something which enters the shell either by design or accident. The mollusc, often a humble mussel, then begins to deal with this irritation by coating it with a smooth hard substance and this is the beginning of a pearl.
It can take around 3 years for these little animals in far away lakes to make a pearl about 7mm in size, along with attention from highly skilled pearl farmers. They are then harvested, graded, temporarily strung, flown all over the world, made into a beautiful piece of jewellery, and a pearl necklace can now be bought for a little over £20.
Pearls, not long ago thought of as something only your Granny would wear, are now being worn by everyone, young and old alike, and with everything from denims to bridal gowns.
Who knows what will happen to the price of freshwater pearls in the future?  But just as we all knew house prices were unaffordable, I feel in my waters these gorgeous gems will cost more before long and I’m getting mine now!
